INERATEC, based in Karlsruhe, Germany, has announced a significant €70M funding to construct Europe's largest sustainable e-fuel production plant, aimed at transforming the aviation sector. The funding includes a €40M loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) and a €30M grant from Breakthrough Energy Catalyst. This investment will enhance the company's production capacity and support the commercialization of its innovative reactor technology that converts green hydrogen and CO2 into synthetic fuels. The backing is part of efforts to drive the green transition in transport and make e-fuel economically viable.
The EIB is committed to a competitive net-zero economy, especially in hard-to-decarbonize sectors like aviation. Through partnerships such as the EU-Breakthrough Catalyst initiative, we're enabling a green transition for transport and ultimately contributing to making prices of e-Fuels more economical.
This funding marks a new era for INERATEC. With the funding commitment from the EIB and Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, we are accelerating the industrialisation of e-Fuel production.
