Francis Kaufmann, a 46-year-old American man, has been extradited to Italy to face murder charges for the deaths of Anastasia Trofimova and her 11-month-old baby. The victims' bodies were discovered in Villa Pamphili park, with the baby showing signs of starvation and strangulation. Kaufmann did not answer questions during a preliminary hearing at Rebibbia prison and was represented by lawyer Carlo Ludovico Favino. Their identities were established after a missing persons show aired, leading to recognition by Trofimova's mother who had minimal contact with them.
