The nearly 30-acre solar field will generate roughly 15 million kilowatt-hours annually, equivalent to powering about 1,400 average U.S. homes. The solar installation will supply clean energy to Toyota's Georgetown, Kentucky assembly plant, reducing on-site fossil fuel use and associated emissions. The Georgetown plant employs nearly 10,000 people and currently produces the Camry Hybrid and RAV4 Hybrid. Production of the Lexus ES350 will shift to Japan to accommodate Toyota's first U.S.-made electric SUVs. A three-row electric SUV is scheduled to begin production next year, followed by a smaller electric crossover resembling the RAV4.
