On April 25, select streets across New York City will close to car traffic for Car-Free Earth Day, transforming into pedestrian plazas. Transportation Commissioner Mike Flynn emphasized the importance of clean transportation options in reducing carbon emissions. The event, which began in 2016, has expanded to all five boroughs and includes environmental programming and art installations by local artists to raise awareness about waste and consumption.
