A Toronto resident has been charged after allegedly entering a St. Thomas high school with masked individuals and confining a student. The 31-year-old man faces charges of forcible confinement and uttering death threats. The incident follows an ongoing dispute among students. Police reported earlier that another student, 14, was charged for bringing a BB gun to school, indicating a pattern of violence. As of early 2024, local police have investigated at least 11 students for violent behavior in schools, raising concerns over student safety.
Officers were called by school administration who wished to report that three unknown individuals, wearing masks, had entered the school with a student.
It was reported that once inside, the group located and confined a student to a washroom who was known to them.
Police have not said whether the two incidents are related or if they occurred at the same school.
Since early 2024, St. Thomas police said they have charged or investigated at least 11 students for violent behaviour at local schools.
