Universities should be places of rigorous debate but also bastions of tolerance and respect for every member of their community... A vocal minority on our campuses are disrupting the lives and studies of their fellow students and, in some cases, propagating outright harassment and antisemitic abuse. That has to stop.
The Union of Jewish Students expressed concerns about protest encampments creating a hostile atmosphere on campus for Jewish students... Data showed a significant increase in college-related antisemitic incidents, with 182 recorded in 2023 compared to 2022.
Tell Mama, a group monitoring Islamophobic incidents, highlighted a rise in anti-Muslim incidents on campuses too... The government is taking steps to address these issues and promote a safe and respectful environment in universities.
