Students more likely to enroll in college based on proximity
Briefly

One of the studies found that living a half hour away from the nearest community college "is associated with lower rates of college going overall [and] lower rates of degree completion overall ... suggesting that for these students, having a community college nearby could be a really important access point to higher education."
The other study, conducted by the California Community Colleges' Research and Planning Group, found that students at community colleges in "university education deserts"—located at least 25 miles from the nearest four-year institution—transferred at lower rates, indicating a geographical barrier for further education.
