Schoolbook publisher apologises for Junior Cert book portrayal of 'potato eating' traditional Irish family
Briefly

The Health and Wellbeing book has been criticized for its portrayal of a traditional Irish family, which depicted them as resistant to change and diversity.
In response to the backlash, EdCo stated, "By means of background and context, the main function of this Activity is designed to help students understand the importance of diversity in our lives..."
Politicians have called for the removal of the book, claiming it promotes a negative stereotype of traditional families, leading to its eventual withdrawal from the curriculum.
Carol Nolan remarked, "No doubt this programme has been influenced by overpaid and irrelevant NGO's who should not be interfering with any aspect of our Education System."
