The Greener Schools pilot scheme aims to aid boroughs in becoming more energy efficient, covering necessary upgrades like insulation, solar panels, and heat pumps.
Mr Khan emphasized that if all of London’s schools adopt energy-saving measures, the potential savings could exceed £50 million annually from the education budget.
The mayor expressed hope that strong results from this pilot will convince the Government to support a nationwide rollout, benefiting children and schools across the country.
The pilot will allow schools to individually choose interventions—each tailored to their needs—thereby establishing which measures are most effective and scalable.
