The new guidelines at Edison High School require students to scan a QR code when leaving the classroom, raising privacy concerns among students about tracking restroom visits.
Principal Daniel Morris emphasized that the policy is not strict, aiming to improve safety during emergencies. He acknowledged student concerns regarding privacy, especially with restroom tracking.
In response to the guidelines, students launched an online petition arguing that tracking restroom use is a violation of privacy and does not consider menstrual cycle needs.
Morris stated the guidelines were partly implemented to monitor excessive bathroom use, especially due to issues like smoking in restrooms that triggered fire alarms.
