NYC high school teacher masturbated on camera after students left remote class, probe finds
Briefly

Roberto Torres, a teacher at Tottenville High School, engaged in inappropriate behavior while co-teaching a virtual class during the COVID-19 pandemic. The incident occurred on November 3, 2020, when Torres exposed himself and was filmed by a fellow teacher during a Google Meet session after students had left the class. Although the video was reported to the police, no criminal charges were filed as no students witnessed the act. Torres was disciplined but details of the punishment remain undisclosed. He continues to be listed as a teacher in New York City schools.
The disturbing behavior, which the report says occurred on Nov. 3, 2020, was one of the most bizarre incidents to occur during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Behavior such as this is outrageous and totally unacceptable, said DOE spokeswoman Jenna Lyle.
Torres was remotely co-teaching a class with about 15 students and displayed inappropriate conduct after they were dismissed.
The video was given to police, but the NYPD closed the case after determining that no students witnessed the act.
