First-generation college students (FGCS) face unique challenges, including higher levels of depression and more barriers to success, yet educational support can significantly enhance their experience and outcomes.
The barriers faced by FGCS often stem from family dynamics and economic difficulties, but caregiver support plays a crucial role in reducing these perceived challenges, ultimately aiding student success.
Our findings suggest that while FGCS may encounter significant hurdles during their transition to college, effective support systems, whether institutional or external, can help them overcome these obstacles.
Further research should investigate the relationships between caregiver support and FGCS well-being, as well as the broader implications of educational guidance in improving their college experience.
