Ongoing conflicts have disrupted education for around 2.8 million children in West and Central Africa, with school closures rising dramatically due to violence.
'The key challenge they are facing is not getting an education, but how to access basic survival needs like food, water, and medical services,' said Dr. Ibrahim Baba Shatambaya.
'Education is under siege in West and Central Africa... the deliberate targeting of schools and systemic denial of education is nothing short of a catastrophe,' said Hassane Hamadou.
In Nigeria alone, over 15.23 million children are out of school, primarily due to violence from groups like Boko Haram, impacting the northern regions severely.
