A new push to get community college students to the polls
Briefly

The nonpartisan initiative, called the Community College Commitment, hopes to turn out 500,000 new community college student voters by 2028, largely by funding and facilitating voter registration events on community college campuses.
The initiative centers on doling out grants for community colleges to host voting drives and other projects that could encourage students to vote. They are also hosting a concert competition for engagement in voter registration efforts.
The coalition includes big names like Levi Strauss & Co., Lyft, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios, and Paramount Global, along with organizations like the American Association of Community Colleges and the Students Learn Students Vote Coalition.
Martha Parham from the AACC highlighted that while get-out-the-vote efforts are not new to community colleges, the launch of the Community College Commitment initiative brings a new level of focus and support for increasing voting rates among community college students.
