In Oakland, California, a troubling trend of smash-and-grab robberies has emerged, with at least six gas stations targeted in two weeks. A recent incident involved a vehicle repeatedly crashing into a Shell Station, causing extensive damage and theft of valuables. Gas station manager Deep Singh expressed alarm over the escalating violence and organized nature of the crimes, noting prior, less destructive thefts. Frustrated by the lack of action from local authorities, Singh emphasizes the need for a response to enhance safety and maintain business in the area.
Security cameras were rolling when a vehicle repeatedly rammed into the building as one of the store gas station employees ran away.
Singh says the car destroyed the entire front facade of the store and knocked the safe off its bolts.
Singh is frustrated by the city and police department's inability to catch those responsible. "Do something... you have all the evidence... it's kind of sad for us."
Despite frustrations, Singh wants to keep doing business in Oakland, but says without major change, that desire becomes harder and harder.
