The Bookmark Bookstore, located in downtown Oakland, will soon hold a significant sale featuring over 5,000 cookbooks, with funds supporting the Oakland Public Library. The collection includes rare and vintage titles, dating back to World War II and beyond. Operations manager Erin Rivero notes the excitement of unearthing older cookbooks while highlighting a diverse range of cooking styles present in the sale. Since its founding in 1992, The Bookmark has donated over $3 million to the library, emphasizing its community focus and volunteer efforts.
"We're still digging through items that are on the older side. We've found titles dating back to the 1940s, and we imagine there are even older items in the collection."
