New Concord restaurant Mazza is offering an authentic taste of Afghanistan
Briefly

Mazza, a recently opened Afghan restaurant in Concord by Mohib Sadat, aims to bring authentic Afghan flavors to the Bay Area. Sadat moved to the U.S. in 2019 after working with the U.S. Military in Afghanistan and was craving the taste of his homeland. Collaborating with chef Sami Khwaja, they import spices from Afghanistan to create traditional dishes like tikka kebab and ashak. With a capacity of 95, Mazza promotes Afghan culture and tradition while catering to diverse palates, providing options from sophisticated cuisine to kid-friendly burgers.
Sadat and his chef, Sami Khwaja, decided to import spices directly from Afghanistan. With these spices, the aromatic flavors came to life, solidifying Sadat's desire to open Mazza.
Now they're serving up tikka kebab, made with beef and lamb, marinated overnight and cooked over charcoal, which Sadat believes gives it an authentic taste of Afghan street food.
