Downtown Oakland restaurant to move after Friday night shooting
Briefly

Chef Cleashaun Hill is relocating his Oakland restaurant, Pierre Pierre, after a shooting incident during dinner service left two patrons injured. Hill is raising funds via GoFundMe to cover relocation, support staff during closure, and assist the families of the injured. He emphasized the restaurant’s role as a sanctuary for the community and expressed the necessity for a safer environment for guests and staff. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing with no arrests made so far, causing significant concern among local business owners and patrons alike.
Oakland police told the Bay Area News Group that a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were hit by gunfire and driven to separate hospitals; they are in stable condition.
Hill described it Saturday as 'a sanctuary for Black excellence. A place where our people could gather, celebrate, dine, and dream in peace.'
Hill is now looking to 'relocate to a safer environment where our guests and staff can feel protected and free.'
The money will go toward moving costs, paying staff during their closure and supporting 'the families of our injured guests and affected employees.'
