Trader Joe's and Costco are limiting how many eggs people can buy
Briefly

Costco and Trader Joe's are implementing purchase limits on eggs due to a shortage linked to avian flu, which has killed millions of egg-laying birds. Trader Joe's is limiting sales to one dozen eggs per customer daily, while other grocers like Kroger are capping purchases at two dozen in some locations. Rising egg prices have been attributed to this supply issue, with prices increasing 14% from November to December 2022, and projected to rise another 20% this year, prompting some chains to raise menu prices accordingly.
Due to ongoing issues with the supply of eggs, we are currently limiting egg purchases to one dozen per customer, per day... to ensure that as many of our customers who need eggs are able to purchase them.
