The Bay Area is finally experiencing a cooling pattern following an intense October heat wave, with coastal fog and marine layer returning to the region.
The recent heat wave was the most intense to begin October in more than 40 years, lasting nearly 10 days and raising temperatures significantly.
A low-pressure system from the Gulf of Alaska has helped break down the high pressure responsible for the heat wave, leading to cooler temperatures.
Bay Area temperatures are expected to remain above seasonal averages until Friday but will not exceed 80 degrees by the end of the week.
