A powerful winter storm knocked out power to tens of thousands of Pacific Gas & Electric Co. customers Friday night in the Bay Area... There was no estimated time to reopen the highway.
Snowfall amounts on Friday night and Saturday morning were expected to exceed the 1 to 2 feet that fell Thursday night in the Sierra Nevada.
