During a press conference, Mayor Sheng Thao emphasized the upgrade of Oakland's 911 dispatch system to PremierOne, enabling faster response and better service for the community.
Oakland's Chief Information Officer Tony Batalla stated that the new dispatch system is more reliable and secure, integrating effectively with upgraded records management software, boosting efficiency.
Dispatchers are already seeing positive changes with PremierOne, with Police Communications Manager Gina Cheng noting the team's seamless transition to the new software since its implementation.
Currently, only 51% of calls are answered within 15 seconds, well below the state mandate, with hopes that internal capacity will improve by 2025 as staffing is increased.
