'Oakland needs Barbara Lee': Open letter urges retiring Congresswoman to run for mayor

In an open letter published today, the group wrote that Oakland is facing a crisis of leadership and that the city needs someone who can restore integrity to the office of the Mayor, unite us in a time of division, and help us address critical issues around the budget, public safety, housing, and inequity in our Town.

While rumors have swirled for weeks, Lee has not publicly confirmed if she plans to run for mayor. She did not immediately respond to inquiries from The Oaklandside on Thursday.
