Map: Which OUSD schools have the worst lead contamination?
Briefly

Lead contamination in Oakland schools spans across various neighborhoods, with serious concerns in areas like deep East Oakland and the Oakland hills. Recent data has shown alarming levels, prompting immediate actions from the OUSD to address the issue.
Superintendent Kyla Johnson-Trammell reported that out of the first group of 40 schools tested, 186 fixtures needed repairs, and by Labor Day, 180 of those repairs were completed.
Following repairs, OUSD will retest water in schools to ensure lead levels are below the safety standard of 5 parts per billion before faucets can be reinstated.
OUSD's proactive approach includes the installation of filtered water bottle filling stations, with 60 units received and 12 schools already equipped, plus a distribution of reusable water bottles.
