Man accused of hitting pedestrians as he chased hit-and-run driver

A 19-year-old from Redwood City, Brian Barbatajimaroa, was arrested following his reckless pursuit of a hit-and-run suspect, leading to several pedestrian injuries. Brian Barbatajimaroa called Redwood City police dispatchers just after 10 p.m. Saturday and said he was in pursuit of a driver who had just hit his vehicle but hadn't stopped.
Despite being told several times to stop pursuing the suspect and to pull over and wait for police, Barbatajimaroa allegedly continued the pursuit while reaching high speeds and ignoring stoplights and other traffic laws.
Barbatajimaroa was arrested and is now accused of four counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
