East Bay rattled by pair of earthquakes Monday night
Briefly

On Monday night, two earthquakes struck the East Bay, with the first recorded at magnitude 3.9 near Dublin at 7:46 p.m. and the second at 2.9 near Pleasant Hill at 8:19 p.m. While there were no reports of injuries or damage, BART took precautionary measures by reducing speeds to inspect tracks, causing system-wide delays of up to 20 minutes. The first quake's magnitude was revised downward from 4.2 to 3.9, and it was felt in areas as distant as Modesto and the Sierra Nevada foothills.
The first quake, initially rated as a magnitude 4.2, was downgraded by the USGS to 3.9 after occurring near Dublin, causing widespread but minor effects.
Following the earthquakes, BART implemented reduced train speeds to inspect tracks, resulting in delays of up to 20 minutes, with normal service resuming later.
