Drake Hogestyn's family confirmed he died at 70 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He is remembered for his role as John Black on Days of Our Lives.
His family stated that he was "the most amazing husband, father, papa, and actor. He loved performing for the Days' audience and sharing the stage with the greatest cast, crew, and production team in the business."
Ken Corday, executive producer of Days of Our Lives, expressed great loss, saying, "Hogey was the ultimate team player and there are not sufficient words to express how deeply he will be missed."
Hogestyn's impact on Days of Our Lives will be felt forever. The long-running soap opera allowed him to portray John Black for over 4,200 episodes since 1986.
