California Attorney General Rob Bonta has filed a lawsuit against Providence St. Joseph Hospital, alleging they denied a woman emergency abortion care after a miscarriage, putting her health at risk.
According to the complaint, Anna Nusslock was informed by doctors that she needed an abortion to prevent serious health risks, yet the hospital's policy prohibited the procedure.
A spokesperson for Providence stated that their policy allows for emergency abortion care in life-threatening situations, contradicting Nusslock's claims about the hospital's practices.
Garry Olney, Providence's chief executive, expressed sorrow over Nusslock's experience, stating that they are revisiting their training processes to prevent such incidents in the future.
