According to Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Bryce Cranch, five skiers were hospitalized following a chair lift incident at Heavenly ski resort, with their conditions currently unknown.
Eyewitness Travis Faanes recounted the moment of the incident, saying he heard someone shout in alarm, then saw people falling after their chair slid backwards into another.
Brett Federico, who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, described seeing victims being taken down the mountain and one on oxygen, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Cole Zimmerman, the resort’s Communications Manager, emphasized that an investigation is underway, reiterating that ensuring the safety of guests is their top priority.
