Judge orders DOGE to comply with FOIA requests
Briefly

A federal judge ruled that the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency must comply with FOIA requests from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). The decision mandates that the agency expedite processing these requests, which include records related to the Elon Musk-backed initiative. The ruling counters the Trump administration's claims that such records should be protected under the Presidential Records Act. The judge recognizes USDS as operating under FOIA rules, underscoring the need for transparency in government operations.
Now more than ever, Americans deserve transparency in their government. Despite efforts and claims to the contrary, the government cannot hide the actions of the U.S. DOGE Service.
DOGE is a component of the White House and not subject to FOIA, only PRA. The judge has a misunderstanding of how DOGE works, and we expect him to reverse the ruling once he correctly comprehends DOGE's structure within the White House office.
