Higher level institution graduates with Irish citizenship to be able to vote in Seanad elections
Briefly

The proposed law, set to be discussed by the Cabinet, will transform how Senators are elected by creating a broader 'Higher Education' constituency, thus including graduates from multiple institutions.
This legislative amendment follows a Supreme Court ruling highlighting the need for a constitutional overhaul regarding the electoral process for university representation in the Seanad.
Under the new framework, the existing panels exclusive to TCD and NUI graduates will be abolished, allowing for a more diverse range of higher education alumni to be involved.
While the changes represent a significant shift in university representation, they won't impact the upcoming general election and will likely only take effect in the subsequent one.
