'Fair' to ask asylum seekers earning an income to contribute financially for supports, says Simon Harris
Briefly

"Let's bear in mind there's people in this country who come here and seek international protection who do have a right to work and by the way we are very pleased they do work and we thank them for the contribution they make to the Irish economy," the Taoiseach said.
"I do think its fair though, that if you're working and earning an income that you make some kind of contribution towards the services the state is providing," Mr Harris told RTÉ's Morning Ireland.
"But as people make Ireland their home, we need to see as they get a job as they're able to stand on their own two feet that the support they get reflects that," said Minister Paschal Donohoe.
"Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys said while her department have already started a process to ensure those who were receiving the allowance of €38.80 will no longer do so when they gain employment."
