Dutch regulator slaps Clearview AI with $33 million fine and threatens executive liability
Briefly

The Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) has fined Clearview AI 30.5 million Euros for allegedly violating GDPR by creating an illegal database of biometric data.
According to the DPA, Clearview not only scraped images from social media but also failed to inform individuals about the use of their biometric data.
Dutch DPA chairman Aleid Wolfsen warned that if company directors were aware of the GDPR violations, they could face personal liability for not addressing them.
Clearview's legal representative argues that the fine is 'unlawful' and 'devoid of due process,' claiming the company is not subject to the GDPR.
