Crackdown on short-term holiday lettings stalled at European level despite housing crisis, Tanaiste admits

"Now we understand that the European Commission is still delaying a decision on the Government's proposal to do just that," Ms Bacik said.

"We cannot afford to wait any longer for EU proposals. For years, we have called for stronger regulation of short-term letting."

"That is something that also needs to be explored," the Tánaiste said.
