Larchwood Primary School in Brentwood is hosting events where parents can dine with their children to counteract misconceptions about school dinners. In the first two events, a significant turnout was noted with 89 out of 120 children dining alongside their parents. Headteacher Steve Bowsher emphasizes the difference in the current school meal offerings compared to the past, aiming to reframe the narrative surrounding school dinners. Going forward, each year group will have this experience to further encourage healthy eating habits among students.
Every year group will get the experience each year from now on.
People have an idea in their head of what school dinners are like. If school dinners were like this when I was at school, I would have had them a lot more.
