Dining Hall in Lumine / HAGISO
Briefly

The renewal of the Lumine Kitasenju employee dining hall in Tokyo aimed to revitalize an aging and disjointed environment frequented by store and cleaning staff. Initially popular for its river view and nutritious meals, the space required a cohesive design to boost employee motivation and encourage collaboration. By conducting a design workshop with employees, the architects identified three distinct areas—'Lively,' 'Chatty,' and 'Cozy'—to support various activities, transforming the hall from merely a dining area into a welcoming multifunctional space that promotes interaction and relaxation.
The dining hall, popular for its panoramic view of the Arakawa River, lacked unity due to aging renovations, prompting a complete redesign to enhance worker motivation.
Three distinct areas—'Lively,' 'Chatty,' and 'Cozy'—were created to cater to different activities, transforming the dining hall into a multifunctional space for store staff.
