Eric Bunge and Mimi Hoang, both principals at the firm nArchitects, saw an opportunity during the pandemic to finally pursue their long-held dream of building a vacation home. With much of their public agency work on hold, they realized that designing their own house could not only fulfill a personal aspiration but also keep their team engaged.
While visiting a friend near Rhinebeck, N.Y., the couple took the chance to search for land. After hours of browsing listings from Pennsylvania to Connecticut, they had an unexpected realization - there was a lot across the lake, which became the perfect site for their dream home. This serendipitous find turned into a pivotal moment in their pursuit.
