The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek museum in Copenhagen agreed to return the bearded man's head to Turkey after concluding it likely was looted from a site in Bubon.
Gertrud Hvidberg-Hansen, the museum's director, stated that the decision to return the sculpture was made following strong arguments and scientific documentation proving its illicit excavation.
This bronze sculpture, believed to be of Emperor Septimius Severus, was part of a group that served as a shrine to the imperial cult in ancient Bubon.
The torso has already been returned to Turkey as part of a broader effort to repatriate artifacts that have been illegally excavated and collected.
