A rare baby Silvered Langur, native to Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia, was born at the Bronx Zoo in November and is ready to be seen by visitors. This primate changes from bright orange to grey between three to five months, making early visits significant. Silvered langurs are classified as vulnerable due to habitat loss, yet the Bronx Zoo has one of North America's largest breeding groups, with over 100 born since 1985. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the Zoo's various attractions, including the unique Name-a-Roach program.
Getting to see these animals IRL is a real privilege: silvered langurs are classified as "vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) due to rampant habitat loss.
Compared to their grey counterparts, baby langurs are bright orange up until they're about three to five months old, which means you only have a few more weeks to see this baby in its full golden splendor.
