Opinion | How Babies Teach Us to Be Human
Briefly

Every year, when unpacking my grandmother's nativity set, I hide the ceramic baby in a drawer, embracing the tradition of waiting for Christmas morning. This ritual is a gentle reminder that Advent is a season of anticipation and hope.
As my youngest claimed the responsibility of hiding the nativity baby, it transformed into a cherished tradition, especially considering the fragility of the figure amidst a backdrop of repaired nativity characters. This simple act has become a poignant reflection on family and memories.
In contemplating a narrative of love and belonging, I find it essential to start with a baby. Babies evoke love, softening even the hardest hearts. They inspire an overwhelming capacity for love, inviting us to cherish and hold them close.
Babies inherently possess the power to ignite warmth and affection within us. They inspire tenderness, help us rediscover love when we are at our most vulnerable, and serve as a beautiful reminder of innocence and the joys of parenthood.
