Fires from e-bike batteries have not declined, but fewer people are dying in them. Despite the frequency of these fires remaining stable, improved safety measures appear to have significantly reduced fatalities and injuries this year.
One big change this year is that fewer lithium-ion-battery fires have started indoors, in individual apartments or stores. This shift in location likely contributes to the decrease in casualties, as outdoor fires tend to be less hazardous to residents.
