Teenagers are spending their summer engaged in screen activities, leading to a rise in digital detox camps. These camps, which can cost around $2,000 per week, aim to reduce screen dependency through forced social interaction. Most campers are reported to be socially stunted and arrive at camps unwillingly. The demographics are predominantly boys aged 13 to 17, many of whom are gamers, and girls who are social media-focused. The camps employ therapists to manage screen addiction and provide courses in financial literacy.
Campers are forced to swap their phones for social interaction, but most arrive miserable and socially unskilled, struggling to communicate face-to-face.
Our camp hosts 70% boys and 30% girls, targeting teens aged 13 to 17, primarily those engaged deeply in gaming or social media.
