Hollywood and Bollywood Kickoff Diwali in New York
Briefly

Fifteen years ago, Anjula Acharia hosted an intimate Diwali party with 40 guests, rooted in her family's traditions and aiming to celebrate the festival of lights. This celebration has evolved significantly over the years, transforming from a small gathering in her apartment to a glamorous event called the All That Glitters Diwali Ball, held at the Pierre hotel, attracting around 300 guests from various prominent backgrounds.
Ms. Acharia noted, 'It's just gotten bigger and better,' reflecting on the growth of the event, which now features esteemed South Asian musicians, politicians, and designers. Five years ago, she struggled to find sponsors for the decor and food, yet now, there’s a competitive environment for sponsorships, marking a transformation in how this festival is celebrated and recognized.
Guests were elegantly dressed in South Asian attire, with some wearing elaborate wedding lehengas, and the atmosphere was filled with joyful Punjabi music. Notable figures such as comedian Hasan Minhaj and actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan mingled among attendees, showcasing a blend of cultural celebration and high-profile social gathering.
