Google's team revealed that while their quantum processor Sycamore can be outpaced by classical computers under noisy conditions, it can decisively outperform classical counterparts when noise is minimized.
Researchers concluded that lowering noise during the random circuit sampling process made it computationally infeasible for classical supercomputers to match Sycamore's performance, projecting it would take classical machines tens of trillions of years.
