G.M. Will Restart Cruise Taxi Service
Briefly

General Motors' Cruise driverless-taxi division has resumed testing in Sun Belt cities with human safety drivers after a pedestrian incident in San Francisco led to suspension and layoffs.
Cruise is now providing autonomous ride services in Dallas, Houston, and Phoenix using self-driving Chevrolet Bolt electric cars, suspending the production of its unique driverless cab, the Cruise Origin.
G.M.'s CFO stated that they find the Bolt to be a better solution currently due to regulatory and cost considerations, with plans to transition to a modified version of the Bolt next year.
The new Bolt model is expected to be cheaper than the Cruise Origin, which was a van-like vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals specifically designed for Cruise's driverless services.
