Elevated Lead Levels Found in One-Third of Cinnamon Samples
Briefly

A recent Consumer Reports study found elevated lead levels in 12 of 36 tested cinnamon products, heightening concerns about metals in foods after last year's cinnamon applesauce incident.
The study highlighted that, although lead levels were lower than those discovered last year, the amounts were still concerning, with some reaching 3.5 parts per million.
Tomas R. Guilarte, an expert on children's health, emphasized that even the new findings were still 1,000 times higher than lead levels considered safe for children's health.
Consumer Reports urged consumers to dispose of cinnamon products containing more than one part per million of lead and noted the importance of awareness around heavy metal dangers.
