The Department of Homeland Security has revamped the CBP One application, now named CBP Home, to help undocumented migrants self-deport. Initially introduced as a means for migrants to schedule asylum appointments, the app was disabled at the start of the Trump Administration. Under the new guidelines, DHS indicates that facilitating self-deportation is a more efficient way for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to manage undocumented individuals. In addition to self-deportation, the app offers features for travelers to register documents and check border wait times.
The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self-deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream.
On the first day of the Trump Administration, the CBP One app was turned off and all appointments were canceled.
