Boeing Starliner Set to Leave Space Station Without Its Crew

After lengthy analysis and ground tests, NASA officials stated they still did not fully understand the cause of propulsion system problems that arose as Starliner approached the space station in June.
Boeing and NASA officials are confident in the Starliner vehicle, expecting the trip back to Earth for the empty spacecraft to be uneventful based on past successful landings.
Steve Stich, manager of the commercial crew program at NASA, highlighted Starliner’s successful landings in earlier test flights, assuring confidence in the vehicle ahead of its return.
Despite the challenges, NASA and Boeing maintain that Starliner could have safely returned the two astronauts currently extended at the International Space Station.
