"The weather because of climate change is paralyzing... it has made water scarce and has other negative impacts on the Mbororo," Ms. Oumarou Ibrahim expressed, emphasizing the severe consequences faced by her community.
Since founding the Association for Indigenous Women and Peoples Organization of Chad at age 12, Ms. Oumarou Ibrahim has dedicated her life to speaking for her people on global platforms.
As an environmental activist and chairwoman of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, Ms. Oumarou Ibrahim represents the Mbororo at major climate conferences such as COP meetings.
