Google bets on partners to run their own sovereign Google Clouds | TechCrunch
Briefly

Major cloud providers are now looking at providing sovereign cloud solutions that guarantee government data stays within a specific country. AWS and Microsoft Azure have introduced European Sovereign Cloud and Microsoft Azure Cloud for Sovereignty, respectively. Google Cloud is opting for partnerships like T-Systems and World Wide Technology for Germany and the U.S., instead of developing its own sovereign clouds.
Google Cloud's approach to data sovereignty involves a renewed focus on partnerships, offering Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) as a fully managed software and hardware solution either connected to Google Cloud or air-gapped from the Internet. The emphasis is on enabling companies to utilize Google services while addressing regulatory and security concerns.
Google's latest effort in the data sovereignty space includes Google Distributed Cloud (GDC), designed to cater to companies desiring to leverage Google's offerings without having their workloads and data reside in Google Cloud. The solution can be seamlessly integrated with Google Cloud or operate in an air-gapped environment.
"Today, customers are looking for entirely new ways to process and analyze data, discover hidden insights, increase productivity and build entirely new applications - all with AI at the core," said Vithal Shirodkar, VP/GM, Google.
